New Challenges for Fiscal & Monetary Policy
February 21, 2025
The Department of Economics at the Miami Herbert Business School, University of Miami is hosting a conference on “New Challenges for Fiscal and Monetary Policy.” The event will be held in person at the University of Miami campus in Coral Gables, Florida, on February 21, 2025. The conference will consist of a day-long academic program followed by a public keynote lecture, then a reception and dinner.
We are pleased to announce that the keynote speaker will be John Cochrane (Hoover).
In the aftermath of the social and economic upheaval of the pandemic, amidst fraying alliances and regional conflicts, the global economy faces a new set of challenges and uncertainties. Amidst higher inflation and interest rates, increasing public debt, and strained budgets, fiscal and monetary policymakers encounter significant constraints in addressing these challenges. This conference aims to highlight academic contributions on designing, calibrating, and coordinating monetary and fiscal policies in today’s global economy.
